Purpose

An item-centred register for movable equipment. It connects identifiers and specifications with location assignments, fault notes and maintenance history so the record can follow the asset when its location changes.

Predictive AI

Prediction from this application's own analytics

Like every Cloud on Tap application, Asset Management includes AI prediction based on the analytics it holds in the cloud. Those analytics draw on the records submitted through its authorised workflows, under the same role-based access as the rest of the record.

Predictions support people's judgement. They do not replace review, professional advice or the configured workflow.

The problem addressed

An equipment list can become detached from the item itself, especially when stock moves between rooms, sites or teams.

Intended audiences

  • Multi-site organisations
  • Hotels
  • Businesses
  • Facilities teams

Capabilities

  • Maintain identifier, model and serial number fields
  • Associate an item with a building or location
  • Add fault and maintenance records
  • Continue the item history when its assigned location changes
  • Embedded predictive AI based on the analytics of the respective application in the cloud.

Roles

  • Asset administrator
  • Field technician
  • Authorised viewer or supervisor

Workflow

  • 01Register an item and connect it to a tag
  • 02Open its record at the current location
  • 03Record an update and keep the item’s lifecycle history together

Requirements

  • A COTIC-compatible smartphone or camera-readable link, programmed tags for real taps, network access for cloud records, and an authorised account for updates.

Important limitation

  • Location changes are recorded operational events. Continuous GPS tracking is not part of the described scope.

In practice · synthetic story

01 · Scenario

A tagged portable projector moves from a meeting room to a training space. An authorised employee updates its assigned location and adds a service note; earlier records remain associated with the projector.

02 · Outcome

The result: the item keeps its history even when its assigned location changes.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from building maintenance?+

Building Services organises work by facility. Asset Management follows an individual item across its lifecycle and recorded moves.

Does the tag track an item automatically?+

No. COTIC provides access to a record when a compatible phone reads the tag; it is not a location transmitter.
